- Run Prophet X installer. You can download by clicking here
- Navigate through the installer until you get to the Choose Components screen. Here you will make sure both Prophet X and Prophet X Excel Add-in are checked.
- After it is completed, you want to start Prophet X and log in before you do anything with Excel. There are files that get registered for the Add-in once Prophet X connects to the server and verifies you are authorized for it.
- Once logged in, go down to the bottom left corner and click the icon to open System Alerts.
- If everything was installed correctly, including the VSTO (Microsoft Visual Studios 2010 Tools for Office Runtime) you will see this message:
- If you do not see this message, and instead you see “VSTO Runtime not installed. Can’t install Excel Add-In” this indicates the install of the VSTO was blocked. There could be several reasons for this, but it may require either manual installation of it or IT assistance. Once the VSTO is installed, you will need to re-run the Prophet X installer, then log into Prophet X to check and see if the above message is now showing. (if you want to try manual install, you can either get it from Microsoft’s website or ftp://dtnftp.dtn.com/cust/vstor_redist.zip
- Once properly installed and verified you can start Excel. If everything installed correctly. you should see a message (or get a prompting to allow) on the loading screen that it is installing the Add-in. Once Excel loads you should see a ProphetX tab at the top and indicator should change to ProphetX is Active.
- If you do not see the ProphetX tab on the top:
- Go to File and Options. On the left side, select Add-ins. Go down to the bottom and next to Manage change the drop down to COM Add-ins and click GO. If you see “ProphetX Excel Add-in” here, try putting a check next to it and then clicking OK. If you see ProphetX tab at the top now you should be good, if not continue.
- Close out of Excel and ProphetX. Go to the search line on your Windows Task bar and type in REGEDIT the double click Registry Editor on the results. On the left side look for HKEY_CURRENT_USER and expand it (if it is not already). Then go to Software, then DTN, then finally click on ProphetX. Look to the right side and find a key called LastVersionRun. Right click on this and delete it.
- Once that is done, restart ProphetX and then Excel and see if the ProphetX tab is showing at the top.
- Another other thing you can check, especially if you see the ProphetX tab, but it does not want to connect. In Excel go to File and Options. Then on the left, click Trust center, and then Trust Center Settings. In then go to External Content. Make sure nothing is set to Disabled and both boxes for DDE are checked.
- You can also add the ProphetX folders as trusted locations. Go to File and Options. Select ‘Trust Center’ from the list on the left. Click the ‘Trust Center Settings’ button on the right side of the window. Select’ Trusted Locations’ from the list on the left. Make sure the Program folder for Prophet X is listed under the User Locations. If not click Add New location to add it. C:\Users\<Windows.User>\AppData\Local\Programs\DTN (Before clicking OK to get back to the Trust Center, make sure to check the box next to ‘Subfolders of this location are also trusted’)
