Selecting a Base Symbol
When you have several instruments on a chart, there may be times when you want to add a study to one of them.
The Base symbol is the one you added as the first symbol in the chart. If you want a different one to be the base symbol, just right click on the chart line or bar and select Set as Base Symbol.
Changing the Base Symbol
Each chart window contains a price chart as its base. When you change the base symbol of a chart window, the base chart and all studies based on it will change, and the title bar will change to show the new base symbol. Charts for other instruments that you have added to the window will not be affected.
To Change the Base Symbol
Type a new symbol, replacing the base symbol shown in the dialog.
This command will change all charts and studies for the base symbol, and the title bar will change to show the new base symbol. Charts for other instruments will not be affected.
Changing Base Symbols by Linking
Another quick way to change a chart base symbol is to link it to a quote display. When you create a link from a quote display to a chart window, you need only select a symbol in the quote display, and the chart base symbol and all studies based on it will instantly convert to it.
See linking displays for more information.
