The absolute value of a real number is that number’s numerical value without regard to it’s sign.
For example, if you want the Absolute Value of a spread, if the spread value itself results in a negative number, the absolute value of that spread will be positive.
In this diagram, the spread between the 2 nearby electronic corn contracts display negative values. The absolute values display positive numbers.
